Google Alerts & Reader Media Meditation #7

For my last final media meditation for this class I have to write about how I have used Google Alerts and Google Reader. These two tools are within the use of a computer meaning it is one of the highest ranked media experiences that I have participated in throughout this class.

My Google Alerts actually a while back told me when Skillet (a Christian rock band) was coming to a city near me, I had Ticketmaster in my Google reader and it just automatically sends me shows coming close to me.

My Google Reader has helped me keep up on Celtics basketball games throughout the winter, and now upcoming the March Madness tournament. Whenever I were to miss a game my Google reader would be able to tell me all about it. I can’t wait to have this tool during the March Madness tournament starting Friday. The games are so constant I know that throughout my busy schedule it will be hard to catch every game played on TV.

Google Alerts and the Google Reader is set up by my interests. I just plug in whatever my interests are and get updates on it. It is quick and easy, the information comes to me because I use these tools. You can’t beat a media experience like this one.

I have been participating in this media experience since the beginning of this semester, which has been 3 months or so. I am now deciding to write about it. These tools have actually greatly impacted my view of media. This is because through the use of it I can see how media is changing everyday. Media is now coming to the people rather than the people looking for it. The media is easy access now, its becoming the new craze!

The aspect I am choosing to focus on, that these tools will help with, is like I said before, March Madness. Both of these tools are great to have because instead of taking time to look up basketball scores they all come to me fast and easy. I cant wait for this tournament to start now!
